We got it! Last geolocator retrieved.

OO+YY with new colour rings

Date: 10/10/2017
We caught greenshank OO+YY on 8 October 2017, and its geolocator has been sent for downloading and analysis. That was the final fieldwork in a project which began in March 2013. Now we look forward to what the data can tell us.

The catch was small, but no-one minded. Our goal was simple, and we achieved it. We also caught and colour-ringed 3 other greenshanks (2 retraps) and 5 redshanks. Not surprisingly the mood in the team afterwards was very good. We are very grateful to everyone who has helped in any way over the years, and to the sponsors of the tags: Migrate Technology (manufacturers), British Birds, Chichester Harbour Conservancy, Sussex Ornithological Society and Hampshire Ornithological Society.

The image, taken by Pete Hughes, shows OO+YY with new colour rings ready to be released.
