Ths bird was the first to be colour-ringed in Portugal. It was caught on 7 March 2008 by Afonso Rocha mistnetting at Samouco saltpans near Alcochete on the south side of the Tagus Estuary, opposite Lisbon. It was given the combination RR+RGflag. It was subsequently seen at the same site in May, September and November 2008.
